Who is our customer

MLR Forestal de Nicaragua S.A. is a company focused on agro-forestry development, mostly planting Teak and Cocoa within the Bonanza and Siuna regions of the Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. MLR Forestal is the main employer in the Siuna region and is FSC certified. The project intends to develop a responsible forestry sector in Nicaragua, involving local communities in a sustainable agro-forestry system.

What is our funding objective?

The objective of this project is to support the communities in which MLR Forestal operates and employees by: (i) securing food and sanitation products for children and the most vulnerable; (ii) supporting the indigenous populations in the area of Bonanza with the provision of food and sanitation packages and prevent them from leaving their ancestral territories; (iii) offering support to the most vulnerable during the isolation period in the pandemic; (iv) supporting the local health centres with disinfection products, PPEs, portable hand washing devices, in order to ensure the highest degree of protection to the health staff; (v) ongoing awareness and information campaign.

Why do we fund this investment?

With this project FMO expects to support MLR Forestal, its employees and surrounding communities by ensuring access to food and health care services for the most vulnerable.
