Your role

As Senior Internal Auditor within FMO, you will have a unique opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of the various processes within the bank as well as to support the FMO’s Complaints Office. In your role you will be participating in audits from front to end and will get in touch with all disciplines in the organization. By being part of FMO’s Internal Audit department you have a crucial role in protecting and enabling FMO's business.

As Senior Internal Auditor you will be based in The Hague, the Netherlands. You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Preparation of internal audit engagements;
  • Carrying out and documenting fieldwork by performing sample tests and data analysis;
  • Reviewing documentation and conducting interviews;
  • Delivery of high-quality audit reports within agreed timelines;
  • Discussing (draft) audit reports with the auditee and the responsible Director/ Management Board member; and
  • Monitoring of internal organizational developments.

Your team

The Internal Audit department of FMO consists of five audit professionals with different nationalities, headed by a Director. The department helps FMO to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. FMO has a banking license and is supervised by the Dutch Central Bank. The working atmosphere is characterized by an international environment with short communication lines. The department is responsible for the internal audit plan of the entire bank and therefore covers a broad range of audit topics such as risk, finance, Human Resources, investment process, ICT and treasury.

Your background

You are an enthusiastic professional and you strongly rely on your interpersonal and analytical skills. We are looking for a colleague with a drive for excellence. Someone that likes to take a deep dive in complex processes, goes the extra mile and can clearly report back at the level of senior management.

In addition, the must haves for this role are:

  • Master's degree, along with an audit certification such as chartered/registered accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or a similar qualification;
  • Around 5 years of relevant work experience in the internal or external audit profession;
  • Good verbal and written communicative skills (business language is English);
  • Well-developed organizational sensitivity and stakeholder management;
  • Knowledge of Spanish, German and/or French would be an asset; and
  • Financial sector knowledge is preferred.
