Your role

The Sustainable Finance Analyst reports to the Manager of the Sustainable Finance Advisory team. You will be part of a team of colleagues with different and complementary expertise in relevant sustainability and impact areas.  The team’s collective expertise covers SDG10 related topics such as gender, inclusive business, least developed countries, etc. And SDG 13 such as green and climate finance, climate risk and adaptation, biodiversity and natural capital, circular economy, etc. You will contribute to building our portfolio of at least €10 billion in SDG 10 (reducing inequalities) investments and another €10 billion in SDG 13 (climate action) investments.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with Sustainable Finance Officers and investment teams to prepare assessments that demonstrate alignment with green or inclusive finance criteria.
  • Conduct desk research and organize relevant information to prepare the assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of practical tools, templates, and guidance materials that support consistent application of green or inclusive finance criteria across sectors.
  • Analyze data, aggregate results, and facilitate communication of progress on specific impact themes and on team progress.
  • Develop clear and compelling materials (e.g. presentations, briefings) to communicate the business case for green and inclusive finance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support storytelling around project achievements and strategic priorities.
  • Assist in organizing team-leading events and workshops internally or outside.

Our offer

  • Gross yearly salary of between EUR 50K – 55K (including holiday allowance and 13th month), depending on seniority, years of experience and background.

Your team

The Sustainable Finance Advisory team supports our four investment departments - Agriculture Food and Forestry, Energy, Financial Institutions, and Private Equity.  The team’s collective expertise covers SDG 10 related topics such as gender, inclusive business, digital inclusion, smallholder finance, etc. and SDG 13 such as green and climate finance, climate adaptation, biodiversity finance and natural capital, circular economy, etc. Each member brings unique skills in sustainability and impact areas important to FMO.

Your background

  • Minimum HBO/bachelor’s level, preferably in Development Economics, Business,
  • Finance, International Development, or other comparable studies around sustainability with a focus on private sector development or financing; with least 2 years of work experience.
  • Work Experience is not required at master's level (although preferred)
  • Familiar with one or more of the inclusive finance topics: gender finance, smallholders, access to energy, etc.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in English – excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and service oriented
  • Passionate and committed to impact investing and/or international development.
  • Good administration, in planning, organising, and prioritising
  • Willing to learn, open minded and curious
  • Results oriented.
