Manager IT Strategy, Security and Assurance

Your role

The Manager IT strategy, Security and Assurance, reports directly to the Director ICT and is responsible for safeguarding the organization’s digital assets, by managing information (cyber) security risks and ensuring compliance with (financial) regulations.  

The key responsibilities of this role are: 

1. Strategy & Planning

   • Define and maintain the IT vision and operating model.
   • Oversee solution architecture and application lifecycle.
   • Manage ICT budgeting and cost allocation.

2. Vendor Management

   • Handle ICT procurement and third-party risk.
   • Manage outsourcing relationships and vendor performance.

3. Information Security

   • Lead cybersecurity initiatives and awareness programs.
   • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
   • Oversee threat intelligence, penetration testing, and GDPR compliance.
   • Manage security operations (SIEM, SOC, MS Compliance Centre).

4. Assurance

   • Maintain ICT control frameworks and support audits.
   • Contribute to root cause analysis and act as a spokesperson.

5. AO/IC (Administrative Organization/Internal Control)

   • Maintain ICT procedures, standards, and operational plans.

6. Team Leadership & Training

   • Lead the ICT team and promote a culture of security.
   • Conduct regular cybersecurity training for staff.

Your team

The team IT strategy, Security and Assurance, integrated within the first line ICT department, plays a supporting and assuring role for ICT and maintains strong connections with second line functions such as Legal, Procurement, Compliance, ORM, CISO, DPO, Audit, and third parties (DNB, PWC etc).  

The team acts as the office for the Director ICT and consists of 10 FTE (4 Information security officers incl TPRM, a procurement officer and a contract admin, 2 business analysts, a financial controller and solution architect. 

The other teams within the ICT department include Application Management, Application Development, Service Desk, ICT Operations, and Modern Workplace. The ICT department comprises approximately 100 FTE. 

FMO collaborates with Third Parties for its infrastructure, applications, and security services. 

Your background

You are a confident and strategic professional who thrives in complex, matrixed organizations. With a natural ability to navigate multiple reporting lines and act as a trusted advisor, you are not afraid to challenge leadership constructively when needed. You bring clarity to complexity, simplifying technical and contextual matters to support sound decision-making across IT and Services. Your strong grasp of governance, risk, and control frameworks allows you to ensure coherence and compliance, while your forward-thinking mindset enables you to redefine policies and drive impactful process improvements. You are results-oriented, structured, and capable of translating strategy into actionable plans that enhance performance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications: 

• University/master's degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field. 

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC. 

• 10+ years of experience in IT risk management and regulatory audits in a financial environment. 

• 5+ years of experience as a manager in the financial sector. 

• Strong knowledge of regulations and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, DORA). 

• Experience with regulatory audits in a financial environment.  

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
