What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?

NAM A Bank has been categorized as Category FI-A client, in accordance with FMO’s Sustainability Policy, due to its lending activities being significantly exposed (above 20% of the total portfolio) to sectors and a scale usually associated with a high level of environmental and social risks, such as construction, agriculture, electricity and mining. The Bank has a functioning E&S management system (ESMS), with fully dedicated E&S specialists responsible for integrating E&S analysis into the credit decision-making process. An E&S action plan (ESAP) has been agreed to further enhance the FI’s E&S policy and procedures, which already include application of EDFI Exclusion List, Vietnamese E&S laws and regulations, and the IFC Performance Standards (PS) Framework for the identified Triggered Transactions.
