Who is our customer?

Uganda Bankers’ Association is an umbrella organization for licensed commercial banks supervised by Bank of Uganda. UBA was established in 1981 and is currently made up of 34 members (All 23 licensed Commercial Banks + Uganda Development Bank+ East African Development Bank, and African Export – Import Bank). Membership of UBA was extended to other supervised financial institutions (SFIs Tier 2&3) under the associate membership category.

What is our funding objective?

The Uganda Bankers Association (UBA) is seeking a strategic partnership with FMO for financial and technical assistance over a three-year period. This project bridges the gap between the 2024 ESG Industry Framework and practical, bank-level implementation. By institutionalizing climate risk management, sustainable finance, and IFRS-aligned reporting, the program bolsters the resilience and global competitiveness of Uganda’s 34 supervised financial institutions (SFIs).

Why do we fund this investment?

FMO engages with banking associations to support financial sectors raise sustainable finance standards and practices among its members.
