Who is our prospective customer?
Odyssey Energy Solutions Inc. is operating a procurement and asset management platform for distributed renewable energy developers, EPCs, financiers, and equipment suppliers in emerging markets across Africa, India and Latin America.
What is our funding objective?
An equity investment is considered that will support the Company’s operational expenses during its expansion efforts in India, Africa and Latin America.
Why do we want to fund this investment?
The investment will enable the Company to further expand their procurement and asset management platform used by renewable energy developers to enable and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. Ultimately, this will reduce reliance on polluting, fossil fuel-based energy, whilst enabling (in particular in Africa) cleaner, more affordable and reliable energy supply. Green Label: FMO’s investment aims to support activities that contribute to climate mitigation and pollution prevention, contributing to SDG 13, in line with the FMO's methodology to determine the green finance attribution. RI Label: FMO’s investment aims to support activities that contribute to Gender Lens Investing and Inclusive growth contributing to SDG 10 + SDG 5.
What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?
This is a Category B project on Environmental and Social Sustainability due to limited environmental and social (E&S) risks and impacts associated with the activities. The E&S risks are envisaged to be sufficiently mitigatable / avoidable by adherence to recognized E&S performance standards.
