Who is our prospective customer?

ACON Latin America Opportunities Fund VI-A, L.P., including potential parallel and side vehicles (together, the “Fund”), will make control equity and structured equity investments in middle-market companies across Latin America. The Fund is managed by an affiliate of ACON Investments L.L.C. The Fund is targeting a total commitment size of USD 400 million and is ACON's sixth consecutive investment program dedicated to Latin America. FMO intends to commit to the Fund at first close.

What is our funding objective?

The objective of FMO's commitment is to foster private-sector-led growth and job creation across Latin America by making risk capital and strong social, environmental, and corporate governance practices available to an underserved market segment.

Why do we want to fund this investment?

Compared to other markets, private equity penetration in Latin America remains low, and the availability of structured capital solutions is limited. As a prospective investor in the Fund, FMO supports the fundraising of a capital pool intended to enhance the availability of structured capital solutions for mid-sized companies across Latin America. By participating in the first closing, FMO sends a positive signal to other potential limited partners. In doing so, FMO plays a catalyzing role in helping the Fund attract additional investors - including commercial capital - and achieve its target size and objectives.

What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?

The Fund has been classified as Category B+ based on its investment strategy and pipeline, and in accordance with FMO’s Sustainability Policy. The Fund will invest in a diverse set of sectors, with varied Environmental and Social (E&S) risks across IFC Performance Standards (PS) 1 to 4. Risks across PS5 and PS6 are limited, and PS7 and PS8 triggers are unlikely. The Fund has established a well-aligned E&S management system based on IFC PS, along with demonstrating a proactive approach to E&S management. FMO continues to engage frequently with the manager to monitor and provide feedback on the Fund’s E&S performance. In addition, FMO will continue liaising with ACON on ways to add value and maximize impact together.
