Who is our customer?

TLcom Capital LLP, is a venture capital firm with a focus on sector agnostic tech-enabled businesses across Africa from Seed – Series B. TLcom Capital is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and economic development in the region, notably through initiatives like the Africa Tech Female Founder Summit, which supports female entrepreneurs by providing access to mentorship, leadership development, and funding opportunities.

What is our funding objective?

To support TLcom with the 2025 and 2026 editions of the TLcom Africa Tech Female Founder Summit aim to deepen the impact and sustainability of efforts to support female tech entrepreneurs across Africa. Despite notable innovation growth on the continent, women-led startups remain structurally underfunded, receiving just 7% of total equity funding in 2024. The upcoming summits will address this critical equity gap by expanding access to capital, mentorship, technical skills, and cross-ecosystem collaboration. The events will build on the momentum and learnings of past editions by focusing on resilient and scaling female founders—those preparing for new funding rounds, pivoting in response to market dynamics, or getting ready for exit. Each summit will serve as a high-impact intervention to connect founders with mentors, investors, and partners and to elevate visibility for women in tech leadership.

Why do we fund this investment?

This project aligns strongly with FMO’s Strategy 2030, particularly in its emphasis on reducing inequalities, accelerating inclusive innovation, and empowering female entrepreneurs in emerging markets. FMO’s strategic vision prioritizes creating decent jobs, strengthening gender equality, and supporting resilient private sector ecosystems—all of which are core outcomes of the TLcom Africa Tech Female Founder Summit. Despite growing interest in Africa’s innovation economy, women remain significantly underrepresented in tech entrepreneurship and venture capital. By supporting this initiative, FMO is directly addressing a systemic gap in access to finance, networks, and leadership opportunities for women. The summit contributes to inclusive economic growth by equipping female founders with technical skills, mentorship, and investor exposure—key ingredients for long-term business resilience and job creation. Furthermore, the summit supports FMO’s commitment to market creation and ecosystem development, a foundational pillar of Strategy 2030. By bringing together founders, investors, corporates, and policymakers, the event catalyzes cross-sector partnerships and builds a more inclusive and interconnected tech ecosystem. FMO’s support helps ensure that the future of digital innovation in Africa reflects diverse voices and leadership, in line with its ambitions for transformational impact in underserved markets.
