Who is our prospective customer?
1st Valley Bank (“1VB”) is a development bank based in the Philippines, with a strong presence on the islands of Mindanao and Visayas. The Bank primarily serves small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and farmers, providing financial services to support agricultural production, small-scale commercial, and trade businesses.
What is our funding objective?
FMO will provide a USD 15 million senior unsecured facility with a tenor of 5 years. The funds will be dedicated to rural SMEs.
Why do we want to fund this investment?
The facility promotes financial inclusion and is critical for reaching the underserved segments in the Philippines. This investment is therefore labelled as 100% Reducing Inequalities.
What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?
The project has been categorized as E&S Category C, in accordance with FMO’s Sustainability Policy. 1VB has limited exposure to high-risk sectors and no exposure to activities on FMO’s Exclusion List or transactions that trigger any of the IFC Performance Standards (PSs).
