Who is our prospective customer?

Namdev Finvest Pvt Ltd (“Namdev”) is a non-deposit taking NBFC established in 2013. It has presence in rural and semi-urban areas in the northwestern region of India and currently operates 121 branches across 9 states. The company focuses on impact lending to micro-, small-, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and also serves other segments such as two-wheelers, solar loans, and electric vehicles.

What is our funding objective?

FMO will provide a USD 20 million senior secured facility in INR with a tenor of 5 years. The transaction is structured as an investment into a listed Non-Convertible Debenture (NCD) and will enable Namdev to offer sustained support to MSMEs. All of the proceeds from this NCD are used to support Namdev in growing its MSME portfolio, with on-lending towards micro-borrowers, women-owned and/or women-led SMEs, and rural SMEs.

Why do we want to fund this investment?

The investment promotes financial inclusion and is critical for reaching the underserved segments in India. This investment contributes 100% to FMO’s goals in Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10).

What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?

The project has been categorized as E&S Category C following FMO’s Sustainability Policy. In the case of NBFC investments, the environmental and social (E&S) risk classification is typically medium to low because the exposure is generally limited to retail and micro-entrepreneurs, and there is no exposure to activities on FMO’s exclusion list or that trigger any of the IFC Performance Standards (PSs).
