Who is our customer?
I&M Bank Tanzania (the Bank) is a commercial bank offering a full range of corporate, small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and retail banking services in Tanzania. They are a subsidiary of I&M Group PLC (the Group), a publicly quoted company at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
What is our funding objective?
FMO invests USD 10 million senior unsecured term loan to provide long-term, stable funding for the bank to grow its loan portfolio and support its expansion into the SME segment.
Why do we fund this investment?

What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?
The Bank is classified as an E&S Category FI-B in accordance with FMO’s Sustainability Policy and as a result of the its small loan portfolio and limited exposure to IFC PS-triggered transactions. At the Group level, there is an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) in place, which FMO is supporting in its review and enhancement. The Group is implementing the ESMS across its subsidiaries, which includes I&M Bank Tanzania. As a result, FMO is indirectly supporting the bank in the implementation of its ESMS.
