Who is our customer

Social Investment Fund 6.0 ("SIF 6.0" or the "Fund") is an existing 10-year open-ended fund that provides debt financing to microfinance institutions (MFIs) and other social enterprises in Latin America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa with a mission to expand opportunity for people living in poverty. The fund is managed by Global Partnerships ("GP"), a US-based fund management company and not-for-profit, well-known to FMO through previous investments in SIF 6.0 itself as well as in two other GP-managed funds, SIF 5.0 and SIF 2010.

What is our funding objective?

Funds will be on-lent to MFIs and other social enterprises that provide essential services and products to improve the livelihoods of the Base of the Pyramid population.

Why do we fund this investment?

By investing in SIF 6.0, FMO will enhance its support in the progression of financial inclusion in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. SIF 6.0 provides financing to MFIs and other scalable social enterprises, hereby supporting access to finance for microentrepreneurs and fostering economic growth. 100% of the social enterprises funded by SIF 6.0 reach people living under $5.50 PPP/day (the "Downstream Clients"). 72% of Downstream Clients are women, and 60% live in rural areas.

What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?

The Fund has been categorized as Category C in accordance with FMO's Sustainability Policy. The Fund's activities are deemed to have minimal or no adverse environmental and social risks and/or impacts.
