Who is our customer

Africa Improved Foods (AIF) Holding BV, A holding set up by DSM, where FMO, IFC and CDC will have shareholdings which amount to 91% shares in the operating company in Rwanda, Africa Improved Foods. AIF is a supplier of complementary foods for children and pregnant/breastfeeding women in Rwanda.

What is our funding objective?

Co-fund a 15-month project aimed the design and pilot an AIF Bottom of the Pyramid commercial strategy in Rwanda, with a strong emphasis on behaviour change to ensure clients purchase and use AIF products compliantly, so that they get the expected health improvements.

Why do we fund this investment?

This is in line with FMO’s strategy and available government funds of improving the nutritional status of Rwanda’s population and help address malnutrition by by manufacturing enhanced nutritious foods for vulnerable groups including the rural poor in Rwanda and the East Africa region. Furthermore, this project will allow reaching new customers.
