Who is our customer

Commercial Leasing and Finance (CLC) is a subsidiary of the LOLC group focusing on MSME financing. CLCs main product lines are loans, leases and factoring. The company is supported by an experienced senior management team and an entrepreneurial and strong group. In 2014 CLC acquired a 94 percent stake in micro finance company BRAC Lanka as they want to service the whole client range from Micro to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

What is our funding objective?

The group wants to attract additional liquidity from foreign investors as local banks have limitations due to group limits. The proposed syndicated transaction will be used to support the company’s growth plans and free capacity for short-term local debt and thereby strengthening its funding base with longer tenors.

Why do we fund this investment?

FMO is interested in financing CLC because of its strong focus on the MSME sector. FMOs strategy is focused on job creation and strengthening of small businesses. MSMEs are considered an important backbone for economic growth of Sri Lanka's economy.
