Your role

As Business / Portfolio Officer, you are a trusted sparring partner to the PE Management Team (MT) and a critical node between investment, finance, risk, and operations. You convert analysis into action, shaping decision‑ready insights that support strategic choices and day‑to‑day portfolio steering. You lead the quarterly Fair Value process for the entire PE portfolio, oversee the work of Business Analysts and Portfolio Administrators, and ensure our management information is robust, timely, and continuously improving. You report to the Director Private Equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure initiation, completion, and quality checking of the quarterly fair value process of the Private Equity portfolio of FMO.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and auditors in relation to the fair value process.
  • Preparing fair value reporting, including but not limited to the Financial Risk Committee.
  • Responsible for the periodic preparation of management information, including the delegation of the work, and ensuring that the information is of a high quality and continuously improving.
  • Oversee the work of the Business Analysts and Portfolio Administrators to ensure that work is allocated appropriately and completed on time and to the required satisfactory standard.
  • Work cross-team and departments to ensure that the management information system is correct and up to date.
  • Support the MT in annual business planning and long-term sector strategy and analyze management information to steer on key performance indicators.

Your team

The Private Equity department manages and builds FMO’s equity portfolio of around EUR 4bn, consisting of direct investments, co-investments, and PE fund investments, spread across 6 investment teams (PE AFF, PE EN, PE FI, PE Global Funds, PE Fund Solutions, and PE Ventures). You will be joining the Business Support team, which is home to our Business Analysts, Portfolio Administrators, and Management Assistants. Together, we actively contribute to achieving SDGs 8, 10, and 13, while increasingly adding to FMO’s profitability through active value creation and increased focus on exits.

Your background

  • Master’s degree, preferably in economics, finance, or business administration.
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in corporate banking, investment banking / M&A and/or development finance.

  • You have strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. These help you tackle challenges with a systematic and effective approach. You possess a keen sense of risk, allowing you to spot financial and non-financial risks in clients, countries, and portfolios.
  • A structured and process-oriented worker, you excel in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks. You take ownership when needed while delegating appropriately and are adept at managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Your administration skills are well developed, with attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
  • Pro-active, engaging and influencing skills; you work at the core of one of our most important PE processes (valuation), which is a quarterly returning cross-departmental effort.  
  • You consistently display strong service and client orientation, forging productive, lasting relationships with clients and strategic partners. Your effective communication skills enable you to manage internal and external stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
  • Understanding of systems and being able to use business tools to streamline work processes is an advantage.
