Your team

FMO has a banking license and is being supervised by the Dutch Central Bank, while FMO IM has a MiFID license and is supervised by the Dutch Financial Regulator, the AFM.

Having started as a dedicated team within FMO’s investment directorate in 2012, we became a separate legal entity in 2015 and a part of the Partnerships for Impact (P4i) team in 2017.

With our 12-person team, we advise five debt funds: the FMO Emerging Markets Loans Fund, an institutional fund in partnership with GSAM with two compartments of in total more than USD 580 mln participating in loans across FMO’s focus sectors, the Cardano-FMO SME Finance Fund, a fund participating in FMO loans to financial institutions, the FMO-Privium Impact Fund, an approx. EUR 150 mln open-end fund across FMO’s focus sectors, the 20% emerging markets allocation of the EUR 400 mln ASN ‘Groenprojectenfonds’ investing in green FMO loans only and last but not least the SDG Loan Fund, a blended finance fund with an investor commitment of USD 1.1 billion. Our ‘assets under advisory’ are expected to grow further as we have a significant growth ambition in line with FMO strategy towards 2030.

Your background

We look for a candidate who has ample experience with FMO loans in focus sectors, ideally gained in a prior role in the Investment Teams. Requirements include strong analytical skills with appropriate attention to detail and accuracy. Furthermore, good communication skills are important as the role requires frequent interaction with colleagues in FMO’s front office and mid office, as well as with our fund management partners.

The (Sr) PO works closely with the rest of the FMO IM team, whose members have a team player mentality, a drive for quality, and a flexible attitude towards working hours. For a young company like FMO IM, a shared sense of responsibility and a ‘getting things done’ mentality are crucial. Investors expect impeccable service, discipline and quality, which team members should view as inspiring rather than burdensome. Apart from analytical capabilities and experience, the (Sr) PO should have strong skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing.

The (Senior) Portfolio Officer has:

  • at least 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • a master’s degree or ability to work at a master’s level.
  • strong analytical ability and administrative skills.
  • deep knowledge of emerging markets loans.
  • ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with FMO front-office departments and Fund partners.
  • ability to supervise and coach colleagues.
  • strong planning and organizing skills.
  • strong flexibility, pragmatic, and team skills.
  • excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
