Your role

It is therefore of key importance that FMO knows with whom it is establishing a business relationship as FMO only wants to deal with clients of a good standing and reputation. 'Knowing' a customer means acquiring and monitoring all relevant documents concerning the identity of the customer, gaining insight in the business and its structure, and assessing the client risk.Over the past period we have been strengthening our KYC Department and are now consolidating from a Remediation focused project team into a permanent KYC Knowledge Center with a diverse and experienced team of fifty-five full-time professionals divided over three different integrated KYC Teams (Private Equity, Corporates and Financial Institutions). Within FMO both KYC Analysts and Quality Review Officers are closely connected to the front office allowing for an in-depth ongoing Customer Due Diligence of all existing clients and our prospects. Within FMO’s organization structure and KYC Analysts and Quality Reviewers (QR) are in the first line and Compliance in the second line of defense.

The four different KYC Teams are all looking for experienced Quality Review Officers that would like to join on a permanent basis. As FMO is active in a lot of different jurisdictions the job of a Quality Review Officer is inspiring and challenging at the same time and we look for professionals that have the ambition to do in-depth research in these environments.

Your team

In this role you are reporting to one of the four KYC Managers, and you will be responsible for:

  • Thoroughly checking the Customer Due Diligence files that have been established by the KYC Analysts and Investment Officers if they are in line with the requirements as established by the Compliance Department.
  • Improving the registration, motivation, and uniform application of CDD risks
  • Upgrading the quality of files in close cooperation not only with the KYC Analyst and Investment Officers, but also with the Compliance Department and the 2nd line Business Compliance Officers.
  • Acting as advisor and sparring partner of (S)IO’s on specific KYC Risks, but also having the knowledge and experience to give advice to FO Department Management on the acceptance of clients from a KYC perspective.
  • Coaching and giving guidance and educate less experienced KYC Analysts on both knowledge identifying types of business relations and activities and on dealing with Investment Officers and Clients
  • Regularly participating in deal-team meetings to identify main KYC Risks and recommend conditions - in case of doubt proactively engages Business Compliance Officers. The latter provide mandatory advice and conditions on all High Risk (A and A+) clients.
  • Actively participate in the further development and professionalization of FMO’s first line KYC department by identifying process improvements, improving supporting ICT systems and applications and quality controls; and by iinitiating, organizing and giving knowledge sessions within the KYC Department and FO Departments to further increase KYC knowledge and awareness
  • Ensuring that deadlines are being met and decisions are being made.

Your background

Quality Review Officers in general have gained experience as e.g., KYC Analyst and have a profound and in-depth knowledge of all relevant KYC risks and requirements (including in depth Wwft knowledge). Within the KYC Organization they review KYC Files on both documentary completeness as on the qualitative risk assessment.

  • Master’s degree within Finance, Economics, or Investment Banking
  • Minimum 5-year In-depth knowledge of Customer Due Diligence and compliance is required.
  • Minimum 2-years of experience in Quality Assurance of complex files within one of the larger Dutch Commercial Banks preferably with corporate clients in an emerging market environment
  • In possession of KYC relevant courses (like compliance Officer Pro or ACAMS).

Other skills

  • Operational effectiveness to ensure data input is dealt with in a correct, consistent and timely manner;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude, able to deal with a changing environment;
  • Fluent in English whereby in-depth or native knowledge of another language spoken in FMO’s markets is also valued;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills at all levels;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as required.
