The Strategic Planning team is looking to recruit a Strategy Officer to join as one of our team of 7 professionals. The Strategy Officer work includes corporate and business level strategy, executing topical analyses, decision support to senior management, strategic and business planning, strategy implementation support and leading or participating in special projects in support of FMO’s strategic ambitions.
The key responsibilities are:
Support FMO’s Managing Board and senior management on strategic, business, risk and organizational topics, whereby implementation of our Strategy 2030 - Pioneer Develop Scale will be a core part of the agenda over the coming few years.
This job is within Scale 10 in FMO, with a salary between 85K-90K, depending on your experience.

The Strategy Department has strategy at its core, supporting the Management Board and FMO leadership. Having published FMO’s updated corporate strategy in 2022, the department plays a crucial role in supporting and facilitating the rest of the organization in achieving FMO’s ambitious goals. The department will further sharpen the strategy and help define initiatives to ensure it leads to a tangible impact in low- and middle-income countries. Ensuring FMO stays on course strategically will be done via annual business planning, an upcoming mid-term Strategy review, project portfolio management and performance monitoring.
The Strategy department consists of nearly 30 colleagues across 4 teams being: Strategic Planning; Sustainability Strategy & Policy; Portfolio Management Office; and Evaluations & Knowledge Management, with in total.
You have a strategic mindset, can see the big picture and translate that into meaningful insights at department level. You are self-reflective, eager to take on responsibility, learn and build. You are a team player, pragmatic and results oriented.
You possess strong interpersonal skills which makes you comfortable in interaction with senior management, connecting and collaborating with other departments and colleagues in FMO. You are a conceptual and creative thinker, able to engage on complex topics and help create clarity.
You can act as persuasive and assertive advisor, manage, connect, and bring together diverse stakeholder interests. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are fluent in English.
