Your role

Your role

As an Associate, you will play a key role in executing transactions, monitoring customers, and staying ahead of country and market trends. Your responsibilities will include conducting financial analyses and managing day-to-day client relationships, all while working closely with our (Senior) Investment Officer. This position offers a great opportunity to hone your skills as an all-round investment professional in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market and Financial Analysis: Prepare comprehensive analyses of customers, sectors, and countries.
  • Finance Proposals: Write preliminary and final finance proposals and actively participate in credit department meetings.
  • Due Diligence: Prepare for and participate in due diligence trips led by the Investment Officer.
  • Legal Documentation: Support in preparing legal documents.
  • Travel Opportunities: Engage in frequent travel for due diligence, transaction execution, and monitoring.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, monitoring their financial performance and ensuring compliance with corporate governance, environmental, and social standards.

Our offer

  • Gross yearly salary of between EUR 55K - 65K (including holiday allowance and 13th month), depending on seniority, years of experience and background.

Your team

The Latin America & Caribbean team, which currently consists of 13 professionals, has a strong relationship network across the region and a solid market position. The team is responsible for a portfolio of around 37 clients and c. EUR 1.6 billion total committed exposure. They help FMO achieve its goals by providing debt facilities that positively impact Climate Action and Reducing Inequalities, attracting third-party funds, running sector initiatives, and improving client performance through targeted Technical Assistance.

The Financial Institutions department is split in four regional teams: Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe Central Asia – Middle East North Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The department includes 60 enthusiastic professionals, such as (Senior) Investment Officers, (Senior) Associates, Portfolio Analysts, Administrators, and management assistants.

Your background

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, or engineering.
  • Minimum of two to four years of work experience, with at least two years in financial analysis and/or portfolio analysis.
  • Experience working in an international environment and/or emerging markets.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of Latin American financial markets (desirable).
