The World Bank has unveiled the Human Capital Project, which aims to enhance the health, knowledge and skills of the world's population to help end extreme poverty and create more inclusive societies. The blueprint will entail investment in people through nutrition, education, health care and the creation of new jobs and skills. The institution's Human Capital Index quantifies the economic consequences for countries of failing to invest in their populations as well as the potential economic gains from doing so.
