Rapid improvement is in prospect for the renewable energy market in South Africa thanks to lower technology costs, new financing opportunities and innovation in the sector, according to environmental consultancy GreenCape. The firm's 2018 market intelligence report on energy services says the solar panel market has seen remarkable growth within the past year, while the South African energy storage market is expected to grow to ZAR14.5bn by 2035. As a result, more investors and businesses are turning to renewables with backing from municipal authorities.
