Natural water infrastructure financing should account for full environmental value: Water Consortium

May 9, 2018

The Water Consortium, a global group of climate finance and sustainability organisations, has drawn up a framework for the issue of water-related green bonds called Water Infrastructure Criteria of the Climate Bonds Standard. Applying environment-related financial criteria to natural water infrastructure systems, such as forests and wetlands used in agriculture or helping to prevent floods and natural disasters, ensures that their full value is accounted for and that economic incentives are created to encourage their preservation and protection.
