Rabai Power Project in Kenya awarded African Power Deal of the Year
The Rabai Power Project in Kenya was recently awarded African Power Deal of the Year by Project Finance Magazine. This project comprises the development, construction and management of a 90 Megawatt thermal power plant in Kenya. Investments amount to EUR 120 mln. FMO played an important role in the realization of this transaction. The Dutch development bank is a 20% shareholder and issued a loan worth EUR 19,75 mln. Other investors are bilateral financial institutions DEG and Proparco, as well as the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund.
