Valuing diversity
We are committed to creating a diverse workforce. We believe that encouraging diversity is not only our social responsibility but also a long-term business advantage.
At the end of 2011 we counted 22 different nationalities at FMO, not counting those with 2 nationalities if one was Dutch. This represents 12 % of our work force. We want to increase this further to 15% of FTEs by end-2012.
Diversity also includes looking at the various stages of life. For example the pensionable age in the Netherlands is 65 and will, in time, rise even higher. Or given our average age, many of our employees are (young) parents. This means that for every stage we seek to provide the best solution to let our employees perform to the best of their capabilities.
We also want more women in management positions: we signed the 'Talent to the Top' charter stating this intention in January 2010 and we are investigating ways of putting it into practice. By end-2011, 26% of senior and middle managers were women. Due to FMO's flat organizational structure, we have fewer senior managerial positions than many of our financial sector peers. Nevertheless, we see room for gender diversity improvement in 2012.
